Family Photo Fun...

Well, I have to start this post off by saying that we have never had professional photos taken of our family.  I know!  Terrible!  Well, now that has all changed!

A few weeks ago I contacted Sandy about doing our family photos and we set up a date to make that happen and I was SO excited!

I can not tell you enough how wonderful Sandy is!  Knowing that we have a son with special needs, she was so accommodating and understanding about location and that it might be cold outside.  She made a game plan with me to keep Ryan warm during our outside session (which was so sweet of her!) and fortunately it was a beautiful day on picture day and we didn't have to even worry about him getting cold after all.

When picture day came, Sandy was so sweet to remind me of our session time in a private message and I could tell that she was so excited to meet us all and take our pictures.  I was also so very excited! Did I mention that I was excited?!?!  LOL

I didn't know what to expect, but when we arrived at our location Sandy was so good about organizing us in different poses.  She made sure that everything looked perfect for each shot and even took some fun pictures for the boys as they ran around and played.

I was so impressed with her talent not only with the camera but how good she was with interacting with our family and my active boys.  I loved her patience with them and so was so friendly and fun to work with.

If you need pictures, I can guarantee that you will not be sorry if you choose Sandy to take them.  She captured our family so beautifully and I am so grateful for her and her passion for photography.

Strong Inside and Out...

With the very serious new respiratory virus that is spreading like wildfire around us, I wanted to compile a post about how you can stay strong and protect your family from any sickness.  Whether it be the flu, this mystery respiratory virus, or just a common cold.. These are the things that I recommend...

I only trust these product to keep my family healthy and our immune systems strong.  They are all natural and non GMO and only the best ingredients are used.  It is my passion to help you and your family stay healthy and this is how...

I would first recommend a good Multi-Vitamin for you and your family.

For adults and teens, I recommend Vitalizer or if you want a step down vitamin that is a little cheaper (but Vitalizer is the best) you can use Vita-Lea.

For Children I would recommend Incredivites.  My kids love them and I even have a son with special needs that I crush and give to him in his g-tube.  There are many Moms who crush this and give to their babies in their baby food or formula/bottle.

The next thing I use for my family is a good immune support/builder.

For adults and teens I would use Nutriferon, and Vitalized Immunity.  We also have Defend and Resist and Immunity Formula 1.  My personal favorite right now is Vitalized Immunity.  It is this little orange pill that you put into your drink (I use 4oz of water) and let it dissolve.  It is like eating 16 oranges in one serving.

Children are going to get Immunity builders if they are taking Incredivites, but can also benefit by drinking Vitalized Immunity, or another popular option is our Chewable Vitamin C.  (My kids love these!)

Now you have your insides built up, now it is time to check your home.

My favorite cleaning products (and only ones we use in our home) are also safe and natural.  I do not use bleach or any other harmful chemicals but we still maintain a clean home.
I use Basic H and Basic G to clean my home.  Basic G is one of the most important because you will use that to kill the germs in your home.  Basic G out-performs Lysol and Pine-Sol, and HAS NO FUMES! It CLEANS, DISINFECTS, AND DEODORIZES in one step! No rinsing is required unless the area cleaned will be used for the preparation of food, or could be placed in the mouth, such as a child’s/pet’s toy. In fact, it is SAFER, and MORE EFFECTIVE as a disinfectant than store brands, and ounce for ounce COSTS LESS than store brands! Basic-G costs 27 cents per gallon and makes 64 gallons of disinfecting cleaner per 32 oz. bottle of Basic-G Germicide Concentrate.  I even use the Basic G to make my own cleaning wipes to save money.  These cleaners are so frugal and save me so much money wile also getting my house cleaner than it has ever been.

So those are my tips for a healthy family and home during the hard months of cold, flu, and virus season.  Please contact me at any time if you have any questions or if you need help ordering.  I am so glad to help you!!

Thanks for stopping by and if you feel led, please share this with your friends and family so they can stay healthy as well.

To Sweat or Not To Sweat. That is the Question...

If you are looking for a deodorant that actually works AND is natural, this post if for YOU!
Seriously, it took me years to find something good. I sweat… A lot! (It is actually almost embarrassing how much I sweat.)  I used all different kinds of things (natural/not natural) including clinical strength products to find something that works. After I finally tried this cream, I was shocked at how this natural cream worked!

I should have known shaklee’s product would work but I though I needed something more heavy duty. I’m so excited that I never have to try anything else or worry about a product not working…you know what I mean -Complete Protection Against Odor!! Another think I love about this cream is that it lasts a really long time.  I don't have to replace it for months and it saves me money. Oh, it is also paraben free!
If you aren’t using Shaklee Essentials Antiperspirant Cream, you are missing out!
This gentle cream with pleasant fragrance provides all-day protection against wetness and odors. Its non-greasy formula smooths on easily and disappears into skin for a light, fresh feeling.

If you don't want a cream that you have to apply with your fingers, Shaklee also has a roll on option.  I have never tried it, but I am sure it works just as well.

To learn more and order your own, go here.

I swear by this stuff! You will NOT be disappointed.  Plus, there is 100% money back guarantee if you don’t like it.  If you have other questions about this product, please feel free to contact me at

Lighting the Place Up...

So I have been complaining to my hubby for about a year now that my office space (which is located in the corner of our master bedroom) is just too dark for me to see.  I resorted to putting a lamp on either side of my computer and it was so annoying trying to turn them on and off every time I sat down to work and they still didn't give off that much light.  My hubby was just okay for me to struggle until two weeks ago he decided to put a desk next to mine so he would have a place to work when he brought his work home.  As soon as he sat down to work, he realized that it was dark and he couldn't see well... REALLY?!?!?  So now that it benefits him... he has decided that we need some extra lighting in our room over our desks.  Interesting... I could have told him that a year ago (and I DID!)  So on Saturday he went to Lowes without me to pick up some new lights to go over our desks.  I tried to explain that I wanted a pendant light and I told him before he bought anything to make sure he called me and sent me a picture.  He did such a good job!!  He sent me a picture of these....

I immediately fell in love with him and was so proud of him embracing my style!  The best part.. they were originally $50 that he got for $11.50!!  I told him to pick up three at that price and we could change out the light above our kitchen sink.  I am just so in love with how they look!  (Please excuse our unfinished walls!! We are planning on getting some crown molding up soon.)

Even though I give him a hard time, I am so blessed to have a handy man for a husband.  ;)

Get Rid Of The Mommy Brain!

Introducing: Shaklee MindWorks

I am so excited about this product and let me tell you why...
Have you nourished your brain today? Shaklee just introduced a new MindWorks program, including nutritional support and brain training software. You are going to love MindWorks!

Neural connections in our brain start declining as early as age 20, by age 45 this decline occurs even more rapidly. Studies show the key ingredients in MindWorks help improve mental sharpness and focus and support long term cognitive health.

Scientific studies have shown the key ingredients work in 3 ways:

Immediate improvement in cognitive performance 3 x better than the control group

Over time, neural connections become less efficient, impairing our ability to recall, think and respond. A key nutrient in MindWorks was shown in multiple clinical studies to significantly enhance memory, sharpen focus and improve reaction time.

Protects against age related mental decline

Key nutrients in MindWorks were shown in laboratory studies to promote the formation of new neural connection and in clinical study to reduce brain shrinkage rate by 30% over two years. In addition, MindWorks key nutrients were shown in laboratory studies to effectively cross the blood brain barrier and enter the brain.

Supports healthy circulation

Blood circulation is critical for delivery of oxygen and key nutrients to the brain. It is linked to neural activity.

The Shaklee Difference

MindWorks contains key nutrients that have been shown in three clinical studies and dozens of laboratory studies to immediately enhance mental sharpness, as well as support long term brain health.

Powered by an exclusive Chardonnay seed extract and guarana extract.

Only available to Shaklee, the unique Chardonnay grape seed polyphenol blend is made with a paten pending etraction process that concentrates specific polyphenols that are clinically proven to be more bioavailable and impact blood vessel function. This extract is designed to help make vital nutrients available to the brain by supporting healthy circulation.
Our carefully selected guarana extract has been extensively tested – guarana has long been used traditionally by Amazonian Indian tribes. It helps improve cognitive performance and on serving of MindWorks contains less caffeine than a medium cup of decaf coffee.

MindWorks includes free access to brain training software

Shaklee is a leader in cognitive health by providing both nutritional support and brain training software in one program. The MindWorks program includes a free month of access to brain training software from CogniFit.

The CogniFit brain games are designed to:
  • Strengthen neural connections
  • Exercise your cognitive skills like memory and concentration
  • Improve your cognitive performance while having fun

The Crazy Cat Lady....

Do you know a crazy cat lady?  Oh you do?  Ha ha! I have this funny story to tell you...

We had two sweet adult cats.  Doc (who is 3) and Gizzie (who is 1).

About 3 weeks ago our sweet cat ran away.  (We really need to get our front door fixed so it will latch properly and this won't happen again.)

We told our children that there will be no more cats in this house.  Doc would have to be good enough because we aren't getting anymore.  We couldn't stand the heartache of loosing another kitty.

We looked for days for our sweet Gizzie but couldn't find her anywhere outside.

Many people told us that she would come back...they were sure of it.  We didn't believe them...

Hubby and I took the kids school shopping on tax free weekend.  We told the kids if they were good that we would go to the pet store and look at the guinea pigs, and snakes, and fish, etc.  (Notice that I said nothing about cats there.)   ;)

Well.... when we got to Pet Smart they were having a free adoption day.  Oh, adoption of what you ask?  Adoption of KITTY CATS.  They were free, fixed, micro-chipped, and up to date on shots.  The kids begged to go in and look at them and hold them.  We said, "Okay but we aren't getting one."  Well... we decided to let them get ONE.  They told us that the one we picked out had a brother and the kids wanted them to be together.  UGH!  Okay fine.  We agreed to take both and hoped that Doc wouldn't be too mad at us for bringing two kittens home.  We brought home a girl kitty named Wheelie and a boy kitty named Chess.

Doc wasn't very happy with us when we brought that box home with two kittens.  He would have nothing to do with them for a few days but then he started to play with them and tolerate them okay. Our hearts started to heal some from the loss of our sweet Gizzie.

Bet you can't guess what happened next.....

Last week I took the kids to the bus stop and we heard a cat meowing.  We figured out that it was coming from under the house.  The kids were so excited and wanted me to go under the house and was sure it was Gizzie.  I put them on the bus and then went under the house with the flashlight on my phone (it is SOOO creepy under there!!!) and sure enough.... Gizzie came running.  It was her, and I was in complete and utter shock.  And then it hit me.... WE HAVE FOUR CATS!!

What were we do to?  We love Doc and Gizzie and we had fallen in love with the kittens.  We couldn't get rid of any of them.  I went to the store and bought another litter box and an extra food bowl and more litter.  All week I have been saying at random times... WE HAVE FOUR CATS.  I AM THE CRAZY CAT LADY.  I think it is now time for me to go and buy some cat earrings, cat sweaters, cat pjs, and other random crazy cat lady things...

Anyone have some cat slippers I can borrow?

Being a Boy Mom...

Being a boy mom is certainly busy, challenging, and not for the faint of heart...  I have THREE boys.  They are 5, 6 (almost 7), and 9.

I love my three sweet boys more than anything, but I have many hard days.  Things get broken and spilled often.  They like to try my patience and one minute can be getting along and nice to each other and the other minute can be about to kill each other.  I don't have any girls to compare them to, but I would say that boys are probably much harder.  They aren't as willing to help out around the house and clean (I am not saying that they don't help out, because they most certainly do).  They are not neat at all and I am constantly finding socks and shoes all over the house.  They love to play sports and be rough and tough.

Sometimes I feel very sad that God did not bless me with any girls.  I wanted to know what it would be like to buy dresses, put bows in their hair, and have a shopping buddy.  I feel outnumbered most of the time too. (well...because I am!)  I am not saying that I don't enjoy being with my boys and playing with them, but It would have been nice to get to play dolls and barbies sometimes too.  I saw a show on TV not long ago and a mommy and her little girl were playing with a doll house.  I had a doll house when I was a little girl that my parents built for me and I LOVED it.  I am hoping that my sweet boys will get married and have me some Granddaughters, and I can spoil them and send them home to their parents.  :)

Boys are so rough!  We have had a few mishaps over the years... Trevor has had a tick in his eyelashes that required the eye doctor to get it out (plus dozens of other ticks I have pulled off of this child). I should call him the tick monster.  I HATE ticks.  Trevor has also swallowed a screw.  Thankfully it wasn't sharp!  We had to go to the ER for x-rays until it "passed".  o.O  Thankfully Zack hasn't had anything major.  We have had more bumps, scrapes, and bruises than I can count, but thankfully we haven't had any broken bones or stitches yet...

I think mostly, being a Boy Mom, I struggle with feeling like I am doing a good job.  Just like Mom's of girls would I guess.  I hope that I am raising them to be loving, caring, compassionate men.  Men who will obey God and be good husbands and fathers to their wives and children.  I also struggle with the feelings that they may have because they have a brother with special needs.  I hope that having Ryan as a brother makes them stronger and I hope that they understand why many things in their childhood are different because they have a brother with special needs.  It is hard us to just pack up and go on family trips and overnight stays because of everything we have to pack for Ryan.  I hope they never resent him because we have a different than "normal" life.  I pray often about these things and have also found an amazing group for support.

Ryan, Trevor, and Zack with two of their boy cousins.

I follow a group on Facebook called MOB (Moms of Boys) and they have also started a new group called:  No More Angry MOB.  You can find them HERE.  This group has really helped me as a boy mom and if you are a boy mom, I hope it helps you too.

Comment below if you are a Boy Mom and tell me your boy's ages.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!
